Most hotel PMSs treat a hostel as a hotel with weird room types. That is why hostel front desks live in Excel. Guest Talk was built with hostel operations as a first-class case, not an afterthought.
Bunk-level inventory that actually works.
In Guest Talk, a bunk is an inventory unit, not a fractional room. An 8-bed mixed dorm shows up in the tape chart as eight sellable units, each with its own reservation, its own guest, its own folio and its own messaging thread. When a solo backpacker from Argentina books bunk #3, the other seven bunks stay available. When a group of six books together, they share a reservation but each get their own folio for split payment.
Female-only dorms are enforced at the availability layer, not the checkout layer. Male guests searching the site will never see the female dorm as available on their dates, so we never have to reject a booking after payment.

Hostels sell to more groups than most hoteliers realise: language schools, sports teams, stag and hen parties, small tour operators. Guest Talk includes a group-sales workflow that lets you sell 15 beds to a group leader who then invites each guest to pay their own share. The group leader gets a master invoice; each guest gets a personal folio, a personal messaging thread and a personal cancellation right.
Deposits are milestone-based: 10% at booking, 50% at 30 days out, balance at 7 days out. Cancellations flow guest-by-guest — one dropout releases a bunk without touching the rest of the group.
Hostelworld, Booking and Airbnb — synced together.
Hostelworld is a first-class channel in Guest Talk, with two-way sync of availability, rates and reservations. Booking.com and Airbnb both handle dormitory inventory via their standard channel-manager API, which we map to our bunk-level model. If a guest cancels on Hostelworld at 04:00, the bunk is available on Booking by 04:00:07.
For hostels that sell private rooms in addition to dorms, both inventory types live in the same catalogue with the same rate-management rules. The channel manager knows which OTAs support dorms and routes rates accordingly.
Passport data for local police reporting.
In most European jurisdictions, hostels must report guest identity data to the local police within 24 hours of check-in. Guest Talk captures passport details on arrival, validates them against the country's format, and exports a batch file in the required schema (Spain: Hospedaje, Italy: Portale Alloggiati, Portugal: SEF, Greece: Ministry of Tourism). One click at the end of the day, no manual re-typing.
